Begin by painting each of the wooden shapes, balls, and dowels with a coat of gesso. This'll make the paint go on so much nicer.
Paint the flowers and beads with different colors. I used pink, blue and yellow.
Using a stencil dauber, apply paint in a dotted pattern over each flower. Remember to extend pattern all the way to the edge.
Next paint the dowels with a green. To paint all the dowels at once, line them up as shown, paint, wait a bit, roll the whole shebang just a quarter turn and paint again. Continue until the dowels are painted all the way around.
With a darker green paint color, apply patterns to the dowels such as stripes and polka dots.
Hot glue wooden beads to the center of the flower, slightly offset for a whimsical look.
Apply a strip of hot glue to the top 2" of each dowel and apply flowers.
Use floral foam to hold the flowers in place in a container. Push some stems in deeper than others for interest.
How fun are these?
