Project No. 7
Mama Bird's Nest

For this project, you'll need...
Shredded pages from an old book
3 buttons
Needle and thread
Gluestick (I used the fancy Italian one from One Hundred Wishes!)

Click here to download the embroidered bird image. Print and then cut out along bird. Be sure to cut the bird's between the bottom and top of her beak.
Apply a bit of gluestick directly to your background paper (or directly to your creativity journal page)
Snip the shredded pages to be about 2 to 3 inches long. Arrange the shredded pieces ontop of the slick of glue you applied.
Apply more glue and keep adding paper strips.
Sew buttons directly through the page on top of the paper shred nest you've built.
Add a couple more shreds to make a layer over the buttons to nestle them in.
Glue mama bird to the page just above the nest, as if she's coming in for a landing. Don't apply glue to her beak just yet.
Search the pages of an old book for just the right words for Mama Bird to carry in her beak. Just take your time looking. It's an amazing thing but it happens all the time that just the right phrase appears...clip it out and dovetail the ends. Glue the strip into Mama Bird's beak.

  1. Oh, Amy, I love this one! I can't wait for each new magazine so I can see the new project for my inspiration journal. Each one seems to be even more fun than the previous. I don't know how you keep coming up with these wonderful and adorable projects, but THANK YOU!!!!
